Nice story
Very nice story, which could easily be the start of a book.

One nitpicking: It doesn't take oxygen to fire a bullet. Gun propellant detonate by breaking down a chemical bond, not by combining with oxygen.

Fun Space Wreck Story
There is something classic about space wrecks in sci-fi shorts ("space hulks", if you are familiar with 40K). This is a fitting and fine entry into that sci-fi sub-genre. Really enjoyed the moodiness of the story. And the kitten was a clever twist!

Whirligig of Time
This story reminds me of Vernor Vinge's story "Whirligig of Time." If you liked that story, you'll like this one. And vice versa.

Great take on an old theme
I've always loved these kinds of stories, with a lost ship just waiting to reveal its secrets. This one took that cliche in a new and unexpected direction. Very much enjoyed it. Great set up for a longer piece.

Just right
Perfectly balanced short story - through just a short tracing of a few minutes in a character's life, it conveys an entire novel or two's worth of arc, and leaves you wondering what the lead character will do next. One sentence more would probably be too much (though I think it would be interesting to explore this timeline more, this story itself is already a perfectly-cut stone, something I would expect to find in an anthology somewhere).
